Scrofula, wasting disease, consumption... More commonly known as tuberculosis. The symptoms of tuberculosis include cough, bloody sputum, fever, fatigue, chest pain, lack of appetite, deterioration of general state of health, shortness of breath, and weight loss. Tuberculosis may occur in any part of the body, but it is most commonly found in the lung. Tuberculosis is not a hereditary disease but a contagious one. It is a disease that spreads when a person suffering from it coughs. The disease is caused by a bacterium which results in an inflammation and changes in the lung.
