Computerized tomography

Pikonlinna got a CT scanner machine in 1987. A computerized radiation treatment planning system enabled more precise and faster dose planning, more versatile use of technology, and it spared healthy tissues from radiation. Treatment outcomes could be improved and higher doses of radiation administered when the treatment target could be precisely defined. The treatment was directed to where it was supposed to be directed.

Computerized tomography, i.e. CT, is an x-ray imaging procedure that uses a series of cross-sectional scans, with which it is possible to examine head and body parts in a more complex manner. CT uses X-rays to produce images. LikeX-ray imaging, computerized tomography is based on the X-rays’ different absorption properties in different tissues and organs.
