Work-related lung diseases

The 1990s saw the emergence of work-related lung diseases, such as occupational asthma, farmers’ lung (extrinsic allergic alveolitis) and lung diseases related to the use of asbestos. The lung clinic worked in co-operation with the Regional Occupational Health Centre of Tampere in the battle against asbestos-induced lung diseases, which were caused by the population’s excessive exposure to asbestos. They were among the first to initiate joint ”asbestos council activities”.
